- What clothes are appropriate?
Like the Cub Scouts say, "Be Prepared!"
Check the forecast and bring any necessary attire...better safe (or dry in this case) than sorry :).....but don't worry, we put our Sun order in a long time ago!
- Is the event still on, rain or shine?
You betcha...no matter what the weather, we're gonna have a great time raising money for the kids!
- What should I bring?
Items we suggest are Identification, change of clothes & sunglasses.
- Is there an bank machine available on site?
Yes, there will be a bank machine on-site. Don't forget we're feeing you lunch & keeping you hydrated throughout the day. However if you need cash and forgot to bring some, not to worry, we've got one on site.
- Is there a secure area where I can keep my purse or bag? There is limited space in our volunteer command post. Even though the volunteer command post is always attended by volunteers and committee members, we cannot guarantee it's safety 100%.
- Where do I park? Is there a designated spot for volunteers? Or special bussing?
There is limited parking available however it fills up quickly (we recommend getting there really early to get a spot) so bussing would be your best bet!
- How long are the shifts?
Shift lengths vary, as it depends how long you wish to stay. Every hour counts and we do appreciate your time so if you wish to stay longer the day of to help out that’s great!
- Am I able to enjoy the CHEO BBQ after my shift is done?
Absolutely! The only thing we ask is that you change back into your street clothes if you decide to stay to partake in the days activities.
- Who do I talk to if I have questions at the event?
Excellent question....there's plenty of knowledgable folks at the volunteer command center to help you out.
- Can I bring a friend to orientation?
Absolutely! The more friends you bring to orientation the better. We are always looking to recruit volunteers!
- Can I bring a friend the day of the CHEO BBQ?
Friends are always welcome! If they're not registered as a volunteer, they just need to stop by the main gate to pay the 5 bucks admission.
Due to the hectic nature of the event day, we are only accepted volunteers who have registered prior to the event.
- Are there food and drinks available for the
voluteers during the event?
Volunteers get one lunch voucher which includes a sandwich and drink. Water is also available at no cost throughout the day to volunteers. Additional food & beverages other than water may be purchased.
